Spotify’s Discover Weekly feature is as close to magic as technology gets. It studies your listening history and then presents you with a weekly playlist of artists you may not have heard before but are almost certainly going to enjoy.
The only problem was that no one understood how it worked, so Spotify partnered with Pitchfork to show how some of the biggest music lovers around — Pitchfork editors and musicians — use it to discover new artists, and we designed and built a site that brought it all to life.
The site content is a mix of interview videos, text and music previews. We designed a layout that would give different elements priority at different points in the experience.
The thought of working with Pitchfork and Spotify at the same time is basically why I got into this business in the first place.
